Counselor Information
Year after year, children tell us that their counselor was the MOST important part of camp for them!
Many of their parents agree! Our counselors are enthusiastic young adults, some adoptees themselves,
some not, who have the same ethnic background as the adopted children at each camp. They participate
in all of the camp workshops and activities with the kids, but MOST importantly, serve as positive
role models for the children and families who attend camp.
Though
our counselors are solely volunteers, the camp pays for all food and lodging
while at camp. If you are applying from out-of-state, it will be up to you
to arrange and pay for your own transportation
to camp. This experience may also be used as credit toward community service
requirements in high school or college courses, and the Executive Director
has written many letters of recommendation for counselors
applying for scholarship or employment opportunities. Counselors must be 18
years or older to apply.
If you are interested in becoming a Heritage Camp counselor, please submit
the following application at any time, but no later than one month prior to
the applicable camp date. The Counselor Coordinator will contact you, if you
have been accepted as a counselor, with further details about your role at
camp.
